THREE CHARACTERISTICS OF CHILDREN OF PERDITION
Jesus, our Lord and Saviour had twelve disciples and one of them was a child of perdition. So all Christians must understand that there are so many children of perdition among them.
It is important to explain who children of perdition are according to what Jesus said in John 17:12. He said, “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition...” Thus children of perdition are those who have made up their minds to go into destruction in the last day and there is nothing anyone can do about. The question now is: if our Lord has twelve disciples and one of them is the son of perdition, what are the chances of Christians not having children of perdition among hundreds of millions of them? None! The best a Christian can do is to avoid them when he or she sees any of the characteristics in them. The bases of this is found in 1 Corinthians 5:11, which says, “But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such ...”
The characteristics children of perdition are as follow:
1. They Are Destructive Pretenders: Jesus said in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” He also said in Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
2. They Are Deceivers Because They Are Deceived: Since they are possessed with anti-Christ spirits who engineer them as Judas was engineered to betray Jesus, they not only believe lies but also feed other people with lies. They often like to take the position of instructors before deceiving other people. Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
3. They Are Not Teachable Because They Are Proud And Stubborn: They always believe they are right even if you point the passage in the Bible that proves them wrong. The Bible says in Proverb 16:18, “Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” While Jesus was talking to Peter in Luke 22:31-32, He said, “… Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
This message is part of the efforts I have through the grace of the Lord to strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ. I pray that as many as have read this message would not be enlisted as children of perdition in Jesus name. I also pray that as many as know the Gospel truth will use it to reach out to others in Jesus’ name.
